In May of 2012, Rod Ripley saw an opportunity to expand Lucky’s into Waunakee with the purchase of bank-owned Sweet Sophie’s. Rod introduced the investment opportunity to numerous friends and business contacts focusing on Waunakee investors. Lucky’s Waunakee is currently owned 76% by Waunakee residents.
The goal of Lucky’s Bar & Grille – Waunakee will be creating a premier sports bar with a focus on great craft beer. To show our alliance with the Waunakee Warrior sports teams, the Lucky’s logo will feature Waunakee purple for the banner and clover. We have 33 flat screen TVs throughout the establishment with DirecTV and NFL Sunday Ticket. There are 24 tap beer lines with a focus on local craft beers and select imports. The biggest room in the building used to be a banquet room and now is the Warrior Room adorned with dozens of jerseys and letter jackets and a large number of classy sports pictures taken by professional photographer Julie Fix. The front part of the Warrior Room features our game room with 2 purple-felt pool tables, a 22 foot-long shuffleboard table, 2 dart boards and 2 arcade games. Our Facility has 2 semi-private rooms for events – the Warrior Room and the Badger Den. The Warrior Room is behind the dining room and can be set-up for cocktail parties or sit down parties/meetings. The Badger Den features Badger jerseys and memorabilia with a wall dedicated to Waunakee Warriors who played for the Badgers, our “Warriors in Red” wall of fame. The Badger Den can be used for anything from a business meeting to a birthday party. The Badger Den seats up to 60 but could fit more with tables removed for a cocktail party.
Outside the building we added a bike rack for family adventures on 2 wheels. We also expanded the patio at the front of the building and will be adding additional patio space and 2 sand volleyball courts in April for spring and summer volleyball leagues.
